360 workspace agility

At Light, we're redefining workspace control.

Do your lights control you, requiring manual operation of multiple, decentralized breakers? Do some areas have too much light, while others have too little? Do you find that unneeded lights are routinely left on? Are energy saving opportunities being lost?

Light has been enlightening the workspace since 1986. Now, our intuition tells us you need lighting that's more than just lighting. You need lighting that provides you with ultimate control. You need lighting that acts as a future-proof productivity platform for value-added applications. You need Intu: 360° workspace agility™.

Intu takes Lumintuition—Light's brilliant multifunction fixturing—to the next level. This integrated, intuitive technology creates a wireless mesh network that provides ultimate programmable workspace control and eliminates costly moves, adds, and changes. Intu allows you to maximize energy savings by managing every degree of the workspace—remotely, securely, effortlessly.

System components

gen one

ZigBee technology provides a wireless, robust, reliable mesh network and requires minimal power.

The wireless Intu™ gateway transmits automated schedule changes and program updates from server to network.

Intu™ nodes receive commands from the gateway and adjust lighting. Commands are based on scheduling, peak energy times, and input from occupancy and daylight harvesting sensors, providing optimal energy savings.

Integrated lamp and ballast life cycle meters provide alerts for impending end of life, enabling cost-efficient scheduled maintenance.

The Intu™ automated commissioning tool configures and reconfigures your unique network with easy-to-use commands.

The Intu™ dashboard provides effortless, scheduled, and flexible zoning and control of the entire facility at a glance, via the web.

The Intu™ touch pad is wired to the gateway and provides simple, instant system overrides.

Cell network transmits commands from the web interface to the gateway; easily accessible and wireless.

The Intu™ server is hosted off-site by Light (eliminating IT involvement) and provides redundant back-up and easy accessibility.

Laptop remote access makes remote or multiple-facility management easy and instantaneous.

gen two

Radio frequency identification (RFID) cards track equipment, inventory, and personnel; provides greater security and productivity—less intrusively and at a lower cost—compared to security cameras; and allow for labor and asset management and intelligent data collection.

Retrofittable Intu™ nodes can be retrofitted to any fixture, including HID lights, for ultimate facility control and cost savings. No rewiring necessary.

Daylight harvesting sensors, occupancy sensors, and temperature controls provide energy savings of 30–60%. Use one device for all applications, further reducing system costs.

gen three

Sensors network monitors machine health, provides a Real Time Locator System (RTLS), and facilitates data mining and sharing. The Intu™ sensor portfolio can include sensors for perimeter security, pipe integrity, vents and valves, tank level, flow and pressure, water, air quality, temperature, and equipment health. RTLS enables immediate locating of valuable parts and products.

Intu optimizes your savings

Intu™ provides optimal energy savings and ultimate programmable workspace control in a wireless mesh network. By enabling you to manage every degree of the workspace—remotely, securely, effortlessly—Light's first generation Intu provides you with a new level of control over costs.

Intu™ provides optimal energy savings in multiple ways:
Multi-level switching allows the user to choose from light (dimming) levels of 0%–50%–100% or 0%–33%–66%–100%, by fixture or by zone, depending on need.

Occupancy sensors provide increased security and energy savings by turning lights on and off automatically, depending on occupancy of the workspace. Energy savings can range from 10–80%.

Daylight harvesting sensors detect daylight and command lights to adjust output levels accordingly, using multi-level switching. Program by fixture or by zone. Zones can be determined according to proximity to daylight source. Energy savings can range from 30% to 60%.

Programmable zone control allows a decrease in energy use during peak demand times. No wiring or rewiring required.

Zone control also reduces the amount of moves, adds, and changes that often accompany change. Quick, easy, drag-and-drop changes to each zone can be made via the Intu™ dashboard.

Intu™ provides additional cost savings
Intu's wireless technology means installation labor and wiring costs are drastically reduced. To add, eliminate, or change zones, simply point and click, without running any wiring or adding j-box capacity. Intu reduces MAC (moves, adds, changes) application costs by 85%.
