Challenge

To reduce Systex Products Corporation's lighting energy consumption while maintaining current light levels throughout their facility.
Solution

The replacement of existing 1,000w Metal Halide fixtures with Light's Semaphore 88 Series. The 8 Lamp T8 fixture features an aluminum exoskeleton form-factor, designed for its clean aesthetics and lightweight manageability. The exoskeleton surrounds a modular specular reflector system specifically designed and engineered for even and focused light dispersion. Rounding out the fixture is Light's Slip-Fit hanging system which allows for ease of installation in one-third of the time necessary to hang standard fluorescent or high-intensity discharge fixtures. The Semaphore 88 has a system wattage of 302w versus 1,058w for the standard 1,000w Metal Halide system.
Results

Systex replaced 389 fixtures with the Semaphore 88. Systex's annual lighting bill was $251,000, or $21,000 per month. This retrofit reduced their monthly bill by $15,000 for annual savings of $181,000 (66%). Light levels increased by an average of 15%.
Customer feedback

"The difference is stunning - both visually and financially. We weren't sure that the fixtures could compete with the thousand-watt metal halides, but they do and we're extremely pleased with the end result."
